Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Malcolm Glazer benefited from vision services as a student, which led to the Glazer Family Foundation committing to providing local schoolchildren with an opportunity to have vision problems identified. From 2006-2009, the foundation donated vision screening equipment to eight local counties: Hillsborough, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota Counties’ school systems.
On December 17, 2009, the foundation introduced the Glazer Family Foundation "Vision Mobile", an extension of the Vision Program that will provide the next step in vision services to not only detect, but correct students' ability to see. During the year, the Vision Mobile will travel throughout the eight counties where certified doctors will provide comprehensive vision exams and prescription glasses to children from Title 1 schools at no charge. It is the Foundation's goal to not only provide these services to children who cannot see clearly, but to those who would not otherwise have access to the exams or be able to afford new glasses.
